Overview

Sometimes we need to make fast decisions in the workplace, so being able to think on your feet and use persuasive communication is a dynamic career skill.

In this unique one-day communication course, you’ll learn practical techniques to build rapport, negotiate with authenticity, and plan for challenging conversations.

Our world class NIDA tutors will teach you the same skills used by performers to explore new communication tactics. Through live scenarios, you’ll use active watching and listening to uncover the potential in every conversation, discover how your authentic style can be your strength.

Course components

  • Apply physical, vocal and imaginative techniques to help you remain focused.
  • Examine non-verbal communication to empower you to respond with confidence.
  • Discover how active listening can help match your communication to your audience.
  • Analyse the notion of status and how it can be used to empower others.
  • Use endowment to ensure your thoughts and ideas have greater impact.
  • Set clear objectives for yourself in your various work-related scenarios.
  • Using devised scenarios, participate in extended improvised scenes, trying different approaches and techniques.

  • Demonstrate confidence and expertise in communication.

  • Respond skilfully in the moment.
  • Examine collaborative communication techniques.

Delivery style

Face-to-face at training venue
9am–5pm one full day

How to prepare

Come prepared with a challenging communication scenario in mind, which is current and pertinent to your work.

Some of the communication scenarios that you can workshop in this course include:

  • Job interview techniques
  • Giving constructive criticism to employees
  • Hosting meetings
  • Asking for a pay rise
  • Presenting information to varying stakeholders

We look forward to welcoming you from 8.30 am for tea and coffee. Please make sure you arrive by 8.45 am to ensure a prompt start. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing to move around in.

Arrival tea and coffee, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
