Overview

Need to network but don’t know how to break the ice? In Networking Skills you’ll learn to be present and spontaneous in conversation, interact with confidence and curiosity using techniques to build rapport and connection. This networking training course takes a creative and interactive approach by engaging NIDA role play actors to explore authentic human conversations.

This course was previously known as ‘Working the Room’.

Course components

• Develop your voice for effective communication in a social context.
• Identify how body language contributes to communication.
• Utilise improvisation techniques to navigate business conversations and ‘think on your feet’.
• Plan for successful communication scenarios.
• Explore practical methods to initiate conversation and how to make adjustments.
• Receive feedback and direction on your networking style.

Outcomes

• Practice active listening and active watching skills to promote effective collaboration.
• Demonstrate rapport-building techniques with networking professionally.
• Display physical and vocal awareness when communicating professionally.
• Employ and leverage clear objectives in various work-related scenarios.
• Practice and experiment with improvisational tools to create connection with others and respond successfully in the moment.
• Demonstrate improved confidence when networking.

Two sessions 6.30–9.30pm, on two consecutive weeks

Course Fee

$750 GST Inc. per person. This course has a maximum of 16 participants.
2 sessions, 6 hours total.
