Embedding Strategic Communication Training into Leadership Development with AGSM at UNSW Business School

As organisations navigate increasingly complex workplaces, communication becomes a core leadership capability. From influencing stakeholders and presenting ideas to building trust across teams, the ability to communicate effectively has become critical for executives and emerging leaders alike.

This is why NIDA Corporate Training is proud to have partnered with AGSM at UNSW Business School to deliver a customised two-day Foundations of Leadership program for AGSM and MBA students onsite at UNSW in May.

Our customised program was embedded into the AGSM’s leadership curriculum, through which 52 students engaged in communication training. This partnership reflects a growing recognition across business education and industry: management expertise alone is no longer enough. Leaders must also communicate with influence, credibility and presence.

The Foundations of Leadership program consisted of highly practical, experiential learning designed to strengthen real-world communication performance for aspiring leaders. UNSW MBA students explored how to communicate their ideas by incorporating storytelling vocal and physical presence and structure to deliver presentations that connected emotionally and intellectually with their audience. Sessions examined agility in high-pressure conversations, leadership presence and the ability to think and respond with poise under pressure.

This partnership demonstrates the growing importance of embedding communication capability into leadership development. The AGSM at UNSW Business School is ranked as #1 in Sydney for Business & Management (QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2026), #1 Business School in Australia and #48 worldwide (Financial Times 2025 Global MBA Rankings). Recognised for their career impact, research and teaching, this outstanding school was also named the #1 Business School in Australia by the Australian Financial Review (AFR) BOSS rankings for three consecutive years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. Partnering with a Business School with such high esteem demonstrates the growing importance of strong communication and presentation skills amongst leaders.

As workplaces continue to change, professionals and aspiring leaders are increasingly seeking training that equips them not only with strategic and operational skills, but with the ability to inspire confidence, influence outcomes and connect authentically with others.

At NIDA Corporate Training, our methodology draws on techniques used in performance to help individuals communicate with greater impact in their own professional contexts. Participants build the self-awareness, confidence and presence needed to lead effectively, whether presenting to stakeholders, managing teams or navigating complex business conversations.

This collaboration with AGSM represents a shared commitment to preparing future leaders with the communication capabilities needed to communicate complex ideas and adapt their communication style for diverse audiences. Whether you are undertaking training with us through a course or as part of team training, you can be confident that you’re learning the same skills being taught as part of a world leading MBA program.
