Overview

Need to network but don’t know how to break the ice?

This is a practical course designed to help you build genuine connections and strengthen your professional relationships. Through a supportive and interactive learning environment, you’ll develop the confidence and ease to engage in conversations with authenticity and spontaneity. Using evidence-based techniques and creative, hands-on activities, this course offers a fresh and encouraging approach to networking that makes it feel natural, enjoyable, and effective. 

Networking Techniques is taught in an accessible format with two three-hour sessions over two weeks.

This course was previously known as ‘Networking Skills’.

Course Components

  • Learn how non-verbal cues such as posture, eye contact, and facial expressions can enhance trust and connection in networking settings. 
  • Strengthen your vocal presence to communicate clearly, confidently, and with warmth during introductions and conversations. 
  • Discover simple, adaptable techniques for initiating dialogue and keeping it flowing. 
  • Explore tools from improvisation to help you think on your feet, adapt to unexpected moments, and maintain genuine engagement in business conversations. 
  • Plan ahead for various scenarios so you can approach networking opportunities with clarity.
  • Engage in real simulations with a professional role play actor to practice the skills. 

Outcomes

  • Understand how to implement physical and vocal techniques when communicating professionally, helping you to project confidence and clarity. 
  • Demonstrate increased confidence in networking by initiating and sustaining conversations that create strong, memorable impressions.
  • Employ improvisation tools and active listening skills to build genuine connections, respond effectively in the moment, and strengthen collaboration in simulated workplace scenarios.
  • Build and apply clear objectives in a range of networking contexts, practising skills with a professional role-play actor and integrating personalised feedback to enhance impact.
  • Practice skills with a professional role-play actor and receive personal feedback and coaching

What to Expect on the Day 

Consider some networking scenarios that you may have found challenging. These scenarios may be shared with the group in role-playing exercises. 

It is advisable to wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes as there may be some movement exercises.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the course and check in with the venue staff to let them know you’ve arrived.
