We provide world-class training for teams looking to connect with audience and stakeholders, across all business contexts and industries. For clients like Gradient Institute, what we do bolsters the impact of their work in research, facilitation, and specialised knowledge training.

About the organisation

Gradient Institute is a not-for-profit research institute that ‘build ethics, accountability and transparency into AI systems.’ Through research, policy advocacy, training, and creating new algorithms, the institute aims to build accountability into AI systems and help governments and businesses adopt responsible AI practices to prevent harm and inequality.

The challenge

With the increase in the use of AI, the staff of Gradient Institute are now leading training for government agencies and companies. Their audiences vary in size, from 10 people in a face-to-face setting to more than 100 people in online webinars. The challenge for Gradient Institute was to improve presentation and facilitation skills, with the strategic goal to train large groups.

The NIDA Corporate Training solution

Our expert tutors guided our clients at Gradient Institute through experiential learning, designed to enhance communication skills. We hosted a customised two-day program providing strategies to manage challenging facilitation scenarios. We focused on the use of improvisation techniques to enhance authentic communication. By reviewing their unique communications styles, strengthening physical presence and improving audience engagement, participants were empowered with the tools to become engaging facilitators.

Our impact

Through our customised training program, we enabled participants from Gradient Institute with the skills to adapt to and lead in a range of communication contexts. Being a predominantly online workplace, the group also appreciated the face-to-face participation provided by the course, simulating potential scenarios with stakeholders as well as an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie within the team. The team walked away equipped with facilitation tools and confidence in their ability to communicate effectively.
