These 2-hour workshops are a great introduction into NIDA Corporate Training’s world-class storytelling techniques, and a taster of the impact our longer form training can provide. Each of the workshops listed below are an effective way to experience our immersive training.

Format 

Offered as a 2 hour workshop for up to 20 people (with 1 tutor) or over 20 people (with 2 tutors).

Cost 

  • Up to 20 participants – $7,500 (ex GST) 
  • 20 participants or more – $9,000 (ex GST) 

To build lasting confidence and mastery, we encourage participants to continue their learning through our full-day or small-group programs through our training courses or custom team training solutions.

The Presenting Edge

The Presenting Edge provides participants with a foundational knowledge of how to present with confidence, purpose, and impact. Through practical exploration of vocal and physical presence, participants can begin to learn how body language, grounding, and vocal choices shape perception, as well as some strategies to manage nerves and speak with ease.  

The session introduces a few techniques to calm performance anxiety and quiet the inner critic, enabling participants to perform with greater confidence. It also touches on setting clear objectives, helping participants define the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of their message while using intentional actions to guide audience response. 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this program, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the importance of confidence when presenting to audiences of all sizes. 
  • Think about strategies that will engage and influence your audience. 
  • Practise techniques to manage nerves  

Workshop Outline 

  • Presentations in Context 
    Explore how individuals respond to the challenge of presenting, including common fears and mindset barriers. Discuss the role of nerves and how they can be harnessed as a source of energy and focus. 
  • Vocal and Physical Considerations 
    Explore practical exercises to connect breath, body, and voice, learning how physical presence and vocal control contribute to a confident delivery.  
  • Planning for Confidence 
    Learn how preparation is key to confident presenting. Participants will learn about the ‘Given Circumstances’ of a presentation and how to set a clear objective for each presentation. 
  • Techniques to engage 
    Understand how to engage an audience from the outset, by using effective ‘hooks’ to capture attention and create a strong connection. Use emotional tactics to take your audience on a journey and ensure your presentation is a memorable one. 

Story Smart

Story Smart is a practical workshop designed to help participants understand the power of story to engage, influence, and inspire.  

Participants will start to understand why humans are wired for stories, learn proven structures, and touch-on techniques that bring clarity and impact to their communication. Through some quick and interactive exercises, participants will start to build skills in presence and delivery, helping them to make messages more memorable and meaningful through the strategic use of story.  

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this program, participants will be able to: 

  • Be more confident using story as a business communication tool. 
  • Think about engaging and influencing audiences through story. 
  • Recognise key messages and align them with audience needs. 

Workshop Outline 

  • Why Story Matters: Introduction and Context 
    Discover the science of storytelling and why humans are wired for narrative. Identify workplace contexts where stories make the biggest impact.  
  • Business Stories 
    Learn to distinguish between personal, second-hand, and public stories.  
  • Structure and Story Spine 
    Explore the story structure to shape stories that flow naturally and resonate with audiences. Practice adapting stories to fit different contexts and timeframes. 
  • Working with Actions 
    Bring stories to life by focusing on impacting your audience. Practice telling stories with a clear purpose and experience how intention changes delivery. 
  • Delivering Story 
    Build confidence in your ability to engage and influence by refining your presence, voice, and message to ensure clarity and impact.  

The Communication Edge

In The Communication Edge participants will use performance-based techniques to explore physical and vocal communication, active listening, and strategies to engage others in conversations.  

Participants will learn the importance of setting clear objectives for each interaction and to understand the needs, expectations, and perspectives of different audiences. These practical skills will allow participants to start communicating with greater confidence, presence and ease.

By the end of this program, participants will be able to: 

  • Develop strategies to manage different communication scenarios. 
  • Apply techniques to build rapport and strengthen workplace relationships. 

Workshop Outline 

  • Physical Messaging 
    Learn how to build trust and rapport through confident body language. Explore balance, energy, posture, and expression to ensure alignment between words and actions. 
  • Vocal Messaging 
    Strengthen vocal presence by focusing on breath, tone, resonance, and articulation. Discover how vocal choices influence clarity, confidence, and authority. 
  • Engaging Others 
    Develop strategies to prepare for conversations, set clear objectives, and adapt tactics to shift perspectives.  
  • Active Watching and Listening 
    Practice tuning into non-verbal cues and emotions. Learn techniques to accept, adapt, and maintain rapport. 

The Power of ‘Yes’

The Power of Yes is a great introduction into NIDA Corporate Training’s world-class improv techniques. This fun and interactive workshop introduces the principles of improvisation to strengthen workplace communication, creativity, and resilience.  

Participants start to explore the difference between accepting and blocking ideas, and learn how a “yes, and” mindset fosters collaboration, innovation, and psychological safety. Through some quick and interactive exercises, participants can start to practice listening actively, trusting their instincts, and embracing mistakes as opportunities. This workshop helps individuals and teams build confidence, adaptability, and stronger connections, creating a culture where ideas grow, and challenges are met with openness and energy.

  • Differentiate between “accepting” and “blocking” in communication. 
  • Apply a “yes, and” mindset to foster collaboration and innovation. 
  • Practice active listening to improve rapport and understanding.
