Overview

This course is designed as a two-term program to help you develop a secure approach to acting while working on challenging musical repertoire.

Enhance technical vocal skills, explore a variety of musical theatre genre and gain confidence in storytelling through song.

Collaborate with a director and musical director to rehearse solos, duets and ensemble material and ensure you are audition-ready.

Course components

Term one

Instrument Work: Develop your vocal range and physical presence through training specifically tailored for the medium of acting though song. Explore how physical action and the use of appropriate vocal technique informs character objectives in solo performance contexts.

Storytelling and Performance: Create engaging characters and communicate a visual narrative. Learn to synthesise your skills within an ensemble.

Term two

Genre and Style: Employ a variety of singing and dancing techniques to interpret contemporary and classical West End and Broadway repertoire.

Rehearsal and Performance: Create dynamic and truthful performances through the application of singing and acting techniques. Meet the demands of challenging storytelling in a theatrical context and present it to an invited audience.

• Respond to a variety of musical theatre genres
• Perform material in a variety of performance contexts
• Deliver audition material with confidence
• Identify professional opportunities and how to position yourself according to industry needs

Fees

The course fee is $2,975. This is payable in two instalments across the course or upfront with a 10% discount ($2,677).

A separate non-refundable audition fee of $37 will be charged.
