Magic and Mayhem: Midsummer's Unpacked, Grades 7-10

Holiday course Explore one of Shakespeare’s greatest works across five full days as we unpack the world of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Gain a greater understanding of this wonderful play through extensive textual analysis and practical stage technique. Includes a session in clowning as you explore the play within the play and bring the mechanicals to life.

Course components

  • Text Analysis: Interpret and bring to life written text for live performance.

*Stage Craft: Consider the elements that contribute to the physical realization of a performance.
*Clowning: Unleash your inner silliness! Practise clowning exercises & learn to captivate your audience.

  • Collaboration: Incorporate and develop shared ideas into a live presentation.

  • Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
