What’s in a name? To be, or not to be? Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. Widely considered the world’s greatest dramatist, William Shakespeare’s words have created some of theatre’s most significant characters and scenes. Delve into some of Shakespeare’s most memorable moments as you explore his comedies, histories and tragedies and invigorate the words that have enthralled generations of audiences. Showcase Shakespearean text at the end of the course for your invited audience.
Course components
- Text Analysis: Interpret and bring to life a short written Shakespearian text for live performance.
- Iambic Pentameter: Explore the use of Iambic Pentameter.
- Stage Craft: Consider the elements that contribute to the physical realisation of a performance.
- Performance: Rehearse and present a short live performance.

- Flights and accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
- Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
- Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
- NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
- If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
