Skills NT - Directing Actors for Screen

Under the supervision of a professional director, work with actors to investigate variety of methods by which to explore text and elicit outstanding screen performances.

Course components

  • Examine a variety of directing techniques and styles in a practical workshop format
  • Develop directing methods to get the most out of actors on the rehearsal room floor
  • Gain an insight into the technical considerations directors face including shot selection, lighting and sound


  • Experience in working with actors in a supportive environment whilst being mentored by an industry professional
  • Confidence in casting and communicating with actors both on and off the rehearsal room floor
  • Awareness of technical considerations whilst directing for the screen


Some experience recommended. 

Course enrolment is open to people over 18 years old. This course is available specifically for residents of the Northern Territory.
