Case study - EML

The EML Learning and Development team invited NIDA Corporate Training to deliver a presentation and communication workshop to take their team’s facilitation skills to the next level. In collaboration with the Learning and Development team, NIDA Corporate Training developed a customised course that was adapted to relevant business scenarios experienced by the facilitators and presenters. This is the third time NIDA Corporate Training has been engaged by the broader EML company to help meet their training needs.

For more than 100 years, EML has been helping Australians get their lives back after workplace injuries. By working collaboratively and constructively with injured workers, employers, and providers, EML achieve the best possible injury, claims management, and return to work outcomes.

After hearing excellent feedback from a fellow department, the EML Learning and Development team decided to engage NIDA Corporate Training to assist in achieving their desired results: to enhance their facilitation skills by increasing audience engagement through improved presentation and communication skills.

NIDA Corporate Training answered the brief with a customised one-day course, delivered in-house at the EML offices. The course covered key areas including, presentation warm up techniques, body language awareness, voice projection, and storytelling techniques, among others.

Technical Learning and Development Consultant, Mathew Allen believed the training to be extremely beneficial to the team, commenting:

'The course was very interactive and entertaining, which made it easy for the team to be involved and engaged in the activities throughout the day.

'The session provided invaluable feedback on our team’s current presentation skills via video recordings, and offered simple and effective techniques that could be applied immediately to enhance our communication skills when presenting in training sessions, meetings, and day-to-day interactions.'

The EML Learning and Development team were delighted with the outcomes of the workshop, with Mr Allen commenting:
