Success Story: Westpac Grad Program 2025

NIDA Corporate Training offerings are suitable for professionals at all levels, from entry-level to C-Suite executives. As part of Westpac’s Graduate Program, we provide professional communication training as a powerful investment that will bright young graduates thrive in their role, and throughout their career.

About the organisation

Westpac is Australia’s first bank and oldest company, known as one of the ‘Big Four’.

The annual Westpac Graduate Program offers recent university graduates permanent employment with a rotational program within their chosen business area. The program provides support to strengthen technical and soft skills to accelerate their professional career development.

The challenge

Our task was to help recent graduates and entry-level employees adapt to the corporate environment by developing their communication skills. This included awareness of their own communication styles and habits, and to adapt strategies and techniques to influence with confidence.

The NIDA Corporate Training solution

We successfully delivered our bespoke program, The Professional Stage, to 150 emerging professionals within the Westpac Graduate Program. To enhance engagement and facilitate interactive learning, we divided participants into two cohorts. Each group benefited from the guidance of two elite facilitators from NIDA Corporate Training, whose combined expertise spans professional acting, directing, and corporate coaching.

Throughout the immersive, full-day experience, participants developed a powerful suite of tools: vocal techniques for confident and influential speaking; physical presence strategies drawn from the stage to enhance gravitas and authority; and high-level storytelling methods to transform information into memorable, audience-focused communication.

The training prepared the graduates for a networking event with the Westpac leadership team at the end of the day, seamlessly linking performance with professional visibility and reinforcing the significance of confident communication in leadership.

Our impact

Graduates reported an increase in confidence and clarity, after developing a stronger awareness of their own communication style and how to adapt it for influence. The program directly supported Westpac’s goal of empowering graduates to share their unique and authentic perspectives, aligning with the theme Uncommon Minds. After one day of dedicated training, graduates left with tangible, repeatable skills that can be practiced in their day-to-day work, and as they grow and develop in their careers.
